This was done my building management. D-1 port is connected to my modem (ISP for internet).
- i see modem is wired in this way using some hardware which is at the top. Not sure what is this one called. Is this for data or telephone not sure. But my rooms has RJ45 (ethernet ports only),no telephone ports. So i am assuming LAN should be enabled. Unfortunately my room LAN port is not working, means no data when i connect using cable to my computer or wifi router.
I am planning to use room LAN port to WIFI router so i can get good coverage.
Can anyone help to understand how i can test and find where is the problem. The wiring is new so should not be bad.
Thank you all in advance.
You’re assuming wrongly, they use RJ-45 wall jacks even for telephone. The numbering suggests that D-1 is the only port wired for data, the T ports are wires for telephone. The punch down block at the top shows only 1 pair connected per destination —> telephone. To convert one of these to Ethernet, you’d need to pull it out of the punch down block and instead punch all 4 pairs into a CAT6 jack.
