I would love to see an “ankle mode” as I tend to wear my watch on my ankle during runs bc if I’m not moving my arms it doesn’t seem to count the distance/steps therefore my metrics are off.

Would also love to see a “treadmill run” function with improved distance readings for those measurements - my watch is about .25 mi lower than the treadmill distance since it’s not working with gps like on outdoor runs.

For the notification to go away if I’ve already seen it even if it’s just been 5 seconds.

Automation/shortcut options referring to the WATCH battery specifically (there’s only for the iPhone!). I’d love to create an automation that would give me a notification whenever my watch battery is low!

Adjustable brightness instead of always relying on the ambient light sensor.

Adjustable wake duration beyond 15 and 70 seconds. Who came up with a random number like 70 and why is there such a dramatic difference and nothing in between or shorter?

Auto detection for switching between (e.g.) walking and running, so I don’t have to keep fiddling with the watch when I’m out exercising. (I don’t use a timed schedule for it.) It should deal with or ignore very short switches (e.g., out walking but run across a street to beat the light).

I have a 3 so I’m not sure if this is a feature by now, but I’d like to be able to see my phone’s battery % from the watch

Show Reminders Flagged items in the wide Reminders complication, rather than only allowing the Today view. If you use Reminders, then the natural path is to flag stuff each day, not to assign specific times for each item. You can change the iPhone widgets this way, it’s maddening that you can do it on the watch, too.

Accurate readings while worn on the ankle. A lot of people work in fields that don’t allow you to have a watch on your wrist

People obsessed with closing their rings get sad that they can’t close them every day because there’s no such thing as a rest day on the Apple Watch

It’s not just about being “obsessed” with closing rings. The whole concept of rings is to encourage and remind you to keep a regular exercise and movement routine, and it falls apart when you can’t schedule rest days into the system.

You either need to set the exercise goal so low that it’s rendered perfunctory, or you have to start pretending the days you didn’t exercise actually don’t count and begin ignoring the notifications that remind you you’re falling behind for the day/week(because you actually aren’t). Either way, the system becomes pretty useless very quickly.

That rest days still aren’t accounted for in the rings system after all these years is insane, and has rendered it entirely irrelevant to me as someone whose joints can’t take meaningful exercise every single day(thanks, hypermobility!). It could have been a neat system to help me keep track of my exercise, otherwise.

What are we actually supposed to set the calories to on the move ring? I train 6 days a week and never have an issue closing them but at first I was just obliterating them and I adjusted it to double the default but I’m not actually sure what calories it’s counting for the move ring…

No one I know with an Apple Watch knew either…

An actual stress score/ BodyBattery-like function. The available 3rd party ones are terribly unreliable. The only reason I keep looking at Garmins… OK, maybe I’m jealous at the battery life too…

This is the main reason I keep my Garmin around. Along with my years of data in Garmin Connect.

Apple has been steadily gaining ground though, and I can see myself retiring the Garmin when it dies even without new AW features as this point. But Body Battery and other FirstBeat features would make it a no brainer.

Likewise. I’d also like to see blood sugar measurements. I’m not diabetic, but have friends who are and either blood sugar or blood pressure capabilities would sell boatloads more watches and would drive the stock up a decent bit — and that…makes me happy!

Honestly, I think more sensors like this will help people find trends or causes to things easier too. Say if you are feeling kind of off, you can take a reading to see if that might be the reason right there.
