After the Renault 5 and 4, the french carmaker adds another affordable retrochic car 30 years after the original. It‘ll be available for under 20.000€ or less than 100€ per month. Adding an ultra efficient 10kWh/100km consumption would be a really interesting affordable offer for the european market. It‘s main competitors will be the Citroen C3, Fiat Panda, W ID2 and potentially a Tesla Model 2.

I don’t think you’ve quite realized just how small the Twingo is — it’s a city car, the smallest class of car even available. It’s two segments down from the Civic or Corolla, it doesn’t even remotely compare to those nameplates.

The only remaining same-class car at all in North America is the Mitsubishi Mirage, a vehicle which starts at $17k CAD, or thirteen thousand dollars cheaper. Yes, the Mirage is a shitty car, but I really want to illustrate how far away from reality you are here.

I dont think the new twingo will be A segment like the original one.

The A segment has kind of died down with the years. The need of security features that bulked up the chassis and dimensions of cars meant that A segmentcars were becoming undistinguishable from B segment ones.

Case in point: This new one will be 5 door only. There was no way you could fit 5 doors on the original design considering its dimensions.

To me it looks like a B segment EV car, which is totally fine, you just cant make as roomy A segment cars as the OG twingo because of all the security features that new cars require.
