Sometimes I park my (manual) car and find that while I’m well aligned , I’m either too far into the spot (don’t always want to bait someone with my smol car) or not far in enough.

Assuming I’m on level ground (ie in a multi storey carpark), is it OK to put my car into neutral, let down the handbrake and push it a little? As opposed to firing up the ignition and driving it 50 centimeres?

I’ve watched so many fail videos of drivers chasing after a rolling car. Some even get their toes run over.

Don’t kill the engine after you park if you’re this perfectionist. Park. Get out. Check then reverse again. Once you’re satisfied then kill the engine.

I just open the door to look at the parking line next to me. How close is it and how straight. Can I open my door to the 2nd detent without touching the car next to me? If yes and I’m happy then engine off, if not, time to wiggle around and fling the wheel all over the place until I am happy.

I push my girlfriend’s car further away from the garage door all the time when i need access, much better than a cold start for 5s of movement
