Chelsea’s CMs are all under 25. Why on earth are they recruiting another? We have 3 CMs over 28 — 2 of whom won’t even be at the club next season.

I know money talks and nothing is sweeter than Chelsea’s bottomless pocket money, but this would look like a bad career decision.

Kids with potential are expensive these days. Daft as it sounds, this isn’t a price for a likely starter. When top midfielders cost £100m, you can buy 5 kids and hope one of them eventually makes it - or even a couple more, considering you’ll probably get some money back for the ones who don’t make it at the Arsenal/Chelsea level, but are still quite good.

this strategy would be sound, if they didn’t already have two midfielders whom they spent >£100m each on.

Exactly. They have caicedo (115m), lavia (65m), ugochowku (25m, I rate this guy pretty highly btw). It’s not like they can bench Enzo or nkunku either. It’s so obvious Boehly is just buying these players to sell them at inflated prices

This is how club’s drive up rivals’ transfer prices, limiting their future financial flexibility. Agents hype up imaginary bidding wars as well.

      Also, Chelsea is Satan.
