    Cannavaro in 2006.He had a good WC but was average in Serie A.I am not sure of the competition that year,maybe Ronaldinho,Eto’o,Lampard,Robben etc had big club seasons as they were leading players in their clubs’ success that season.

      World Cups are the main factor for the Ballon D’Or. But I agree, Buffon or Pirlo would have been better picks.
