It is long but necessarily so to analyze the journalism contained in a specific article that has so much in common with other stories in The Post and elsewhere.

It should be required viewing at journalism school as it provides a detailed map of what not to do as a journalist.

Sadly I suspect The Washington Post will take the wrong lesson from this article. In the future, they simply will not tip off targets in advance.
