Dream lineup
Ive seen lots of posts of “goat lineups” or “best lineup” or “best lineup of blank”. But i havent seen a post about an 11 of players you enjoy. So for this post just tell us your favorite players 11. (can be because of on or off the pitch)
Mine is:
LW: Son - Not only is he one of the most enjoyable players in the prem rn, but he also is a great person off the pitch as well.
ST: Giroud - Im a Chelsea fan but also like AC Milan and so Ive seen lots of Giroud and enjoy watching him play.
RW: Messi - Hes the reason I started watching football and probably a big reason on why I started playing as well. Hes my goat and is an undisputed top 2 of all time.
CM: Özil - More of a 10 but i wanna fit him in the formation because he was so enjoyable to watch and seemed magical with the ball.
CDM: Kante - No reasons have to be put.
CM: Valverde - I enjoy watching him play as he is a very well rounded player and I think he is one of the best CMs in the world for how well rounded he is.
LB: Chillwell - Ive always been drawn to him and when hes not injured he truly is an amazing fullback able to cross in the box and dribble and such. He is also my current favorite player.
CB: Sergio Ramos - Come on, its Sergio Ramos.
CB: Thiago Silva - In my opinion hes one of the best cbs in the world right now, he is a very humble person as well and the fact hes one of the best at 39 is insane.
RB: Reece James - Great player when uninjured, possible one of the best. And he is a great lad off the pitch.
GK: Tough one but ill go with Neuer because of the way he revolutionized the goalkeeper position.
GK: Dida Dida played for my team in Brazil and one of the best times I had on the stadium was in a semifinal against one of our rivals and he saved two penalties shot by Raí, one of their biggest idols. And he was world class at AC Milan too.
LB: Roberto Carlos Best left back I’ve seen, his shots were insane.
CB: Carlos Gamarra His 98 season was unbelievable. Not only dominated in the brazilian league but didn’t commit a single foul on the World Cup playing for Paraguay.
CB: Fabio Cannavaro First on the list not to have played for my team lol but he was amazing.
RB: Philip Lahm Great playmaker, so intelligent.
CM: Pirlo So classy, loved to watch him play.
CM: Xavi / Iniesta Can’t choose between them.
CAM: Juan Roman Riquelme Legend. I was always afraid to play against Boca or Argentina because of him. Once i flew to argentina to watch a Boca match at La Bombonera and was so disappointed he was injured at the time. Game was awesome anyway, Boca beat Colo-Colo 4-3.
CAM: Lionel Messi The best I’ve ever seen.
ST: Ronaldo Fenômeno Best striker ever. So complete, he could do everything. If he wasn’t injured as much i’m sure there would be people arguing that he was the best to ever play the game but unfortunately we will never know what could have been. But what we saw, man was that special. And luckily I had the chance to see him ending his career playing for my team.
ST: Carlos Tevez When I was 14 I had kind of lost interest in football until one day my dad woke me up and said “get ready and get in the car. we’re going to São Paulo (i lived in a city about 100km from São Paulo) to watch the first match of this new signing Corinthians brought from Argentina, he seems to be quite good”. thank god he did that. Carlitos brought my football passion back in 2005 and I will always love him for that. And for the Brazilian League title as well.
I just think this would be super interesting to watch
ST - Zlatan
LW - Cristiano (from his 1st stint at Man Utd)
RW - Messi
CAM - Rooney
CM - Xavi and Iniesta
LB - Roberto Carlos
CB - Vidic and Ramos
RB - Zanetti
GK - Barthez
I chose chaos
GK: Neuer, LB: Marcelo, CB: Thiago Silva, CB: Chiellini, RB: Lahm CDM: Xabi Alonso, CM: Ballack, CM: Zidane, LW: Ribéry, RW: Robben, ST: Ibrahimovic
Mine is very much a biased liverpool line up from.the Rafa days;
GK: Pepe Reina. Love Ali but Reina was there being a brick wall when I was growing up.
RB: Carragher. Out of position but had to get him in. Another Scouser. Big fan of Trent when he’s on his game but Carragher for pure passion.
CB: Skrtel
CB: Agger. Not the best duo we have had but both where characters aswell as nutters.
LB: Alberto Moreno. I used to look a little like him and enjoyed watching him and Coutinho down the left. Obviously isn’t the most talented player we’ve had.
CDM: Alonso. Always tried to play like Alonso. Have to mention Mascherano aswell.
CM: Gerrard. Legend of a player. Scouse.
CM: Lallana. Could spin on a penny. Proper workhorse too.
RW: Salah
ST: Firmino. Shout outs for Sturridge and Suarez.
LW: Coutinho. Don’t like how he left but always enjoyed watching him play. The through balls and long shots where unbelievable. He’d often be played at LW just to fit him in but can’t say it was his best position.
GK: Casillas
RB: Lahm
CB: Thiago Silva
CB: Mats Hummels
LB: Marcelo
CDM: Kanté
CM: Modric
CM: Guti
RW: Bale
LW: Ronaldinho
ST: Ruud Van NistelrooyGK- Keylor Navas: Incredibly underrated, almost disrespected keeper who I followed since his Levante days. National hero for Costa Rica.
LB - Roberto Carlos: Incredible highlight reel which I loved as a kid, but also a great player from the matches I managed to catch. Won everything.
CB - Diego Godin: He was a master of the dark arts, and didn’t need to be the fastest or strongest defender to be elite. A shithouse master with better defensive ability than nearly all his contemporaries.
CB - Alessandro Nesta: I watched him play in his twilight years and I felt inspired. My pick alongside Maldini for best defenders I’ve ever seen.
RB - Dani Alves: Mesmerizing player, terrible person, and I feel like subbing him out for Pizszcek honestly.
LM - Marco Reus: Club captain for years and stuck around with us even when the biggest clubs came calling.
CM - Ngolo Kante: One of the best midfielders of all time. Too much fun to watch him nullify tons of elite players.
CM - Renato Tapia: Elite Peruvian player, and the only shining light I see in this period.
RM - Arjen Robben: I’m a fan of the way he cuts inside
CF - Lionel Messi: He makes the list because he’s hands down the greatest player to grace the sport. Better than Maradona or Pele imo.
CF - Paolo Guerrero: One of the big reasons why went through a national team renaissance. Brought me so much joy in a very dark period for Peruvian football. He was elite for the national team.
Gk: Buffon solid LB: Roberto carlos Great attacking fullback CB: Puyol Never dives or fakes true spirit CB: Ricardo Carvalho Clean defender to me good all around RB : LAhm Versatile good vision CDM : Vieira Smooth on the ball good vision CM : Alonso Long passes CM: Zidane Class RM: Beckham Long passes crosses and free kicks LM : Ronaldinho Just joy to watch ST : Henry killer and creative thinking
