Why are they doing the 12:30 kickoff for Liverpool v. City?

The Tottenham v. Wolves last week I understand because Son vs. Hwang and the Prem want the Asian market but Liverpool only has Endo and he’s definitely not playing against City.

      100%

Mostly it’s all about money - in this case it seems to be the police as well. Public safety is number one priority I guess but it’s still annoying

I’m a United fan, but I agree with him here. You want the best teams playing in optimum conditions, after all it’s for fans entertainment. Giving them little time to recover, prepare tactics, etc makes it a poorer spectacle.

This is the part that annoys me, which so many people miss. Football is a spectator sport but tribalism stops fans pulling in the same direction. VAR is killing the flow of the game, fixture conjestion is injuring players, and crazy kickoff times are putting off lifelong match goers.

Klopp of course does a lot of railing, which results in instinctive eye-rolling from opposition fans whenever it happens. But he is onto something here. This is a noteworthy disadvantage, it does happen to Liverpool a lot, and from an entertainment perspective it doesn’t make sense to host one of the two biggest clashes this season at 12 fucking 30, lmao.

Even if it’s not a disadvantage to play then, it makes no sense that y’all have like 3x as many games as the team with second most over the past few years. Klopp does some whining that is a bit ridiculous, but more often than not, he’s right.

Must admit it’s something I’ve struggled with as a Liverpool fan, Because the other team we play at 12.30 has the same advantage/disadvantage as us. It just feels like teams that rely on really high intensity (as opposed to lots of ball control) maybe need the extra couple of hours that a 3/5 pm kick off offers.

I just find it crazy regardless of if it gives an advantage is a) that Liverpool have had 15 early kick offs compared to the next most, Spurs, who have had 6.

And b) that there is simply SO much football now. Please can we have just a little bit less?

Who gets the advantage? Both teams players come back at the same time. As he said, all the SA players are all on the same plan regardless of team. And he’s always going on about fairness sporting-wise, so why should his games be treated special? Klopp just likes to whine.

South Americans are oftentimes not ready to start the early kick off on Saturday after the international break due to jet lag. Liverpool has four South American internationals and City has two. So there is a disadvantage. I would bet that Diaz and Nunez are both on the bench due to this, even though they would normally start. Allison will definitely start and Macallister probably will too. Not sure if Alvarez tends to start these fixtures or not tbh.

This one was moved back due to the police, so its understandable. But the problem is that Liverpool has had the early kick off after the international break all three times this year. And more than twice as often as any other team in the premier league since Klopp took over.

Well one team will end up with 4 starters returning via 15 hour flights a day before the game, after playing 180 minutes in a span of few days. The other team will have their players back the same day they finish the second game of the international fixtures.

Go find the stats on how often Liverpool are in the early fixture the last few seasons compared to literally every other team, I’m pretty sure it’s something like 14 or 15 for LFC and the next closest team is Spurs with like 6ish. Now tell me again why Klopp shouldn’t point that out as wrong and has a whiff of something off about it… if it was say 3 games difference I could see why you’d think he’s wrong to complain, but 8 or 9 more than any other team??? Fucking right he’s got a reason to complain!! It’s a very dodgy anomaly to say the least!!

I think he deeply cares about the lads who play for him, that’s what I think when I see him complaining, just sticking up for the bois

Yeah he complains a lot but on this one he’s right why does it make any sense to put one of the biggest games of the season at 12:30 after Internationals, its a joke.
