    One of the ugliest things in our fanbase is how some people talk about Ramsdale giving interviews. Basically the same as the Bellerín thing. It’s just so ugly and crass

      And this time it isn’t even Ramsdale giving interviews. They had his dad on a podcast lol and the dad said they were upset mikel blindsided them but that every arsenal fan should support raya. And that Rambo lost his smile, which, understandable.

      I think the key difference is that yer das just used that as a stick to beat Bellerin with when he wasn’t performing well. The topics oftentimes had nothing to do with football. Yeah, in his documentary we found out his troubles with alcohol during his ACL rehab. He ends up paying the consequences because he can’t get back to his previous level.

      Ramsdale is also paying the consequences of being second best - we just feel for him more because he has opened up a ton.

      I like that content, it humanizes players and gives you interesting factoids. Some people will use that to criticize him like they did with Hector and that’s not fair.

      But the huge difference is when he gives interviews, for example below, about “losing focus” during games, it is footballing related and fair game to talk about. I get that you can’t be dialed in literally 90 minutes and other keepers may even do the same thing, but he’s not really in a position to say that out loud.

      If Ramsdale didn’t do all these interviews I don’t think it would be as big of a discussion that he’s been dropped. Feels more media fueled than anything, and Raya’s initially shaky start didn’t help settle the debate immediately. Arteta got his 1st choice keeper. Ramsdale was always a very good second choice.
