So with those netapp disk shelves, they have 1 controllers, each with 2 of those ports. What are those ports called again? You have to like adapt them to like mini sas or something to connect to a head server.

Anyway, I want to hook up a shelf to my head server to use as a nas. My question is, can I do this with just one of those cables? Can a netapp disk shelf use all 24 bays with only 1 controller powered, or do you have to run both?

Also, they have a bunch of ethernet ports on the back, but I am not messing with any of the management, I just want it as a jbod attached to the nas

    controllers are not singular, please explain

    What are those ports called again?

    so you where to drunk to remember the first 10 times, or just look at a simple guide?

    I think you should not get any of these, get a laptop instead
