I just noticed that my Rheem Heat Pump water heater was no longer following the schedule that I programmed. When I looked in the Rheem Econet App on my iPhone all the schedule settings we set to Energy Savings Mode. I re-entered the schedule but when I switch to “Follow Schedule” and “Save” the settings are again lost. I deleted the app and downloaded what appears to be a newer version, however while it looks different it behaves in the exact same way. This whole things has worked (sort of) for several years - any ideas whats going on?

Hi all–This does seem to be a universal problem on Rheem’s end due to a error in system time. All HPWHs in the app appear to now be set to the UTC time zone. Please see some discussion happening on this older thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/homeautomation/comments/12co34v/my_rheem_wh_econet_app_schedule_is_2_hours_behind/?sort=new

For all reading this, if you haven’t already, please contact Rheem econet support. If they get a flood of reports they might actually fix it.

So after reading the above I decided to try entering the times in UTC (+8 hrs here).

      So 12AM > 8AM, 5PM>1AM, 8PM>4AM, 11:45PM>7:45AM

Which looks screwey because it goes into the following day. However to my surprise the app accepted and stored the schedule, and when I go back and view the schedule the times are in local (PST) also it now holds the information and says its running the schedule (never got this far before)

Whether the water heater actually does what it should is another matter - will report back.

Just spoke with Rheem. They said they expect the app to be working correctly by end of day Monday.

I just noticed our water being “cooler” than usual and chalked it up to the changing weather. I think most people figure out where to put the handle for comfortable water and would notice a pretty significant change (need to turn hotter to get the same).

Checked today and same problem…it wasn’t following the schedule anymore and reset everything to 120F.

    Wtf??

I have been having the same issue with my water heater for the past week. I set the schedule but when I select Follow Schedule, it does not activate. I’m left to manually change the temperature throughout the day to save on the power bill. What a headache and a waste of money for a “smart” water heater.
