It is fair to say that Arsenal were handed a thrashing tonight by West Ham as they lost 3-1 to the home team to get knocked out of the League Cup.
However, the team was far from the best starting eleven.
Especially with a high intensity match awaiting on Saturday, just 3 days away, Arteta’s choice of players was understandable.
It’s as simple as that.
No team ever plays a match to lose but I doubt Arteta will ponder much about tonight’s loss.
Pretty sure that they’ll dust up and focus on PL action.
“Concentrating on the League” is a reasonable excuse if you’re 4 points above the relegation zone, having lost 9 out of the last 10. Anyone else, it’s bollocks.
I didn’t watch the game. But based on the reported lineup, unless Arteta was testing some weird new tactical system, this is unacceptable. It tells both our players and the opponent teams that without the main squad, Arsenal is dogshite. And that’s really bad once the injury season kicks in.
HOW TF DID THIS HAPPEN!!!
