When people say we are worse than last season, they take last season to mean the period before the world cup, and just ignore everything that came after (the majority of the season) which they treat as an anomaly.
As far as I’m concerned, in all the relevant numbers - points per match, goal difference per 90, and even expected goal difference per 90 - we are better than last season.
Just watched the tifo analysis of us comparing this season and the last. Attacking stats are slightly worse but defensive stats are better than last season. Apparently it’s due to rice vs partey.
Also if this means we can stay consistent over an entire season, I’ll definitely take it.
What do you think happened late into the last season? Is it injuries or fatigue or did we just mentally break due to pressure?
