Seen some people go out to start online fights just cause 1 person said messi/Ronaldo is better than the other - ridiculous. Why do some people have this obsession? It’s not like messi/Ronaldo care at all about people fighting for them on some reddit post

    Football is increasingly becoming about supporting a favourite player rather than a favourite team. Fans of Mess and Ronaldo see them as rivals the same way Man U and Liverpool fans see their teams as rivals.

    Just look how many fans change which team they follow as soon as one of those players moves club.

      This is true.

      I feel like it’s because a lot of new/younger fans don’t have a historical, geographical, or family connection to a club, so they find it easier to identify with a specific player and follow them than care about an entire club. It also simplifies being a fan if all you have to concern yourself with is a single player and their career instead of the history and culture of a whole club and everyone in it.

    Its cause of media and social media. Theres always people especially with a large following saying one is better than the other. And since they have a large following its gonna cause a debate.

    And also as sad as it sounds there are people who make Messi and Ronaldo their personalty.
