I have a 1g 4 port NIC. Do I need to upgrade?

Watch your bill closely - after some time Xfinity may end your “discount” resulting in a surprise $80+ recurring monthly service fee.

Also watch for xfinity data cap overage charges. At 800 mbit/sec, you can start seeing monthly usage overage fees within a few hours.

No need to update your NIC. Just make sure all your gear has gigabit ports.

Yeah I’ve had a bad experience with Comcast and Verizon. Made sure to get a no term with a supposed 2 year price lock. Will be watching my bill closely. I definitely don’t trust, those Fers

You probably don’t need anything, monitor you bandwidth utilization both on the WAN interface on your router/firewall, and on your machine NICs, love with it a while see what your actual usage is before spending money.

The only thing I can offer is a reminder that you are paying more to reach your data cap faster.

Unless you have unlimited data, you are confined to that 1.2TB data cap more so than any speed you can get from Comcast.

That’s a good point. Pretty stupid how low the data cap is. I think my dad (the actual end user of the render farm) has no data cap. Maybe I should make him keep it there. I guess then I’d not need to even consider an upgrade.
