First off, wow. This El Clásico was a reminder of why football is amazing. Both teams played great football, the fans were great, and the passion from everyone was there. It was such an enthralling match, and everything lived up to the hype.
Also, why was the refereeing so relaxed. It seemed like defenders were straight up bodying everyone they could see without much consequence. We did see Torres (iirc) get a yellow, but he literally wrapped his arms around Vini and rugby tackled him. Idk how it was just a yellow.
Not that I’m complaining, because I enjoyed the physicality and the seeming consistency of the calls. Does La Liga usually allow that physical style of play? If so, I will definitely be watching more because it feels almost like a different sport than times where players get tapped, roll around, and refs give out yellows
