AT&T came today to connect their router to the ONT device. Installer connects two fragments of cat 6 with scotchlocks. Do they really expect gigabit to work over this? Am I being silly?

These connectors work perfectly for their intended implementation.
They are great for cable repairs and joining where it’s required.
The speed will be unaffected.
Is it a nice install? No way!
Very weird to chose to do this rather than just put a plug or keystone wall mount on the end of the white cable.
They are fine until they’re not.
Came across some in a company, touched them and the connection using them dropped, was intermittent before that. Replaced with coupler boxes which are by far better.
