He started and was man of the match midweek when Villa beat AZ away in the Europa Conference League. It was his first great game of the season.

Thus far in the premier league he has been a bit sloppy. Losing possession and not quite getting his passing game going.

Villa also have two central midfielders who are playing quite well and have been more secure in possession (Luiz and Kamara).

Tbh, he hasn’t been great for a while. Not sure how he fits into villa’s system. He’s not really a holding player, but not really a number 10 either. He’s more of a number 8, which doesn’t fit how villa play currently. When he does get a chance to come on as a sub, he needs to play better, which he has started to do in recent games.
