“The president served stateside in the Air National Guard during Vietnam. Democrats have accused him of shirking his Guard service and getting favored treatment as the son of a prominent Washington figure.
The AP talked to experts unaffiliated with either campaign who have reviewed Mr. Bush’s files for missing documents. They said it was not unusual for guard commanders to ignore deficiencies by junior officers such as Mr. Bush. But they said missing a physical exam, which caused him to be grounded, was not common.“

1·13 days agoSmall militarily not small economically. The Royal Netherlands Air Force is small, especially compared to the USAF. The USAF has more pilots than the RNAF has total service members.
The RNAF has 50 F-35s, not all are active at the same time, and Wikipedia does not list any other active combat aircraft since they sent their F-16s to Ukraine. So not a lot of aircraft and not a lot of pilots.

Technology@lemmy.world•'It's Possible to jailbreak F-35 like iPhone', Says Dutch State Secretary of Defense TuinmanEnglish
2·13 days agoThere is an argument smaller countries need stealth fighters more than big ones like America because there is a larger emphasis on each plane and pilot. Giving each pilot the competitive edge is necessary when you only have a few hundred pilots max, compared to the USA that has around 15,000.

It was announced to not be included in the 2028 olympics back in 2022. It’s up to the hosts to decide which extra competitions are included, Flag Football and Squash will be added new, while Baseball, Softball, Lacrosse, and Cricket are being added after being olympic sports previously but not in 2024.

3·16 days agoFrom the view of John the Savage, and to those who’s personalities align with John, it is a dystopia. This clean, orderly, and oppressive society removes the ability to experience real highs like love and real lows like sacrifice. The workers will only know shallow replacements. Furthermore, the workers no longer have the ability to choose. They cannot choose their role in society, and seemingly they cannot choose to leave the society either. Even John is seemingly stuck in the society, and in the end gives into the sensuality and group think after trying to flay himself.

3·23 days agoThat is until you compare the T-90M to a modern NATO tank it’s supposed to contend with. The T-90 entered service in 1992, the US had the M-1 Abrams enter in 1980. Most M-60’s were retired by 1995.

12·29 days agoYou recieve the same bonus for a few different things. I think the girl scouts gold award and sea scouts quartermaster award give the same enlistment rank bonus.
This is less of an issue in America than it is in Europe, and I think it comes down to religion. The immigrants to the United States are generally more likely to adjust and conform since American culture is highly syncretic, and refugees are more likely to be Christian and meld into the predominantly Christian Unites States.
European immigrants are more likely to be Muslim, which clashes with European customs, cultures, and ideals. This is why they form such tight, insular communities where they can control the communities customs and ideals. You see this in Muslim and Jewish communities in the United States as well but it is less pronounced.
In an ideal world it should. But in reality the demand can rapidly outpace the growth.

2·1 month agoFrom the game’s perspective, yes. Though short, it’s clear the game diminishes the main character’s independent thoughts while preaching conformity to the message. The best thing to do is go against the message and establish yourself independent of both sides, which you can do by balancing your choices between Amelia and the adult figures. In the end it doesn’t matter becaue the game gives the same ending of reaching out and joining a workshop, but blindly trusting either side is wrong.
