Unless you drive a lot every day, you probably don’t need to install a special charger. I was about to have one installed, but then I figured I’d see how the plug already in the garage worked out. That was about 10 years ago. I get the not wanting another payment though. Shit’s just brutal. I boughtt a 2 year old used EV for $11k. Never had a moment of buyers’ remorse.

There have been studies done since before I became a teacher. And now that I’m retired, I’m talking about decades of research:

Jimerson looked at 20 studies published between 1990 and 1999, and concluded that they “fail to demonstrate that grade retention provides greater benefits to students with academic or adjustment difficulties than does promotion to the next grade.” In many studies, students who were retained had worse academic achievement and social-emotional outcomes than students who were not.

Another research review from Jimerson and his colleagues, this one published in 2002, found that grade retention was also linked strongly to dropping out of high school. -source

The source also brings up the racist underpinnings that too often support holding kids back. I said before, but just to reiterate, there is a problem that needs to be addressed, but retention is demonstrably not the answer.

I never said there’s not a problem, just saying that’s not the answer. Like, factually.

All of the schools around where I live had SSR (Sustained Silent Reading). It’s pretty beneficial for students. You always get the morons who do everything they can to not read, but it helps most other people.

Decades of studies have shown that retention, repeating grades, is not beneficial for any stakeholder.

If it’s not, move it to one of the directories, or run it explicitly from where it is. I just downloaded it. It saved to my ~/Downloads folder. I had to chmod +x egctl-linux-x86_64, then run it from a terminal with ~/Downloads/egctl-linux-x86_64 and it worked. Although I don’t have that mouse so “working” for me is Error: device not found (VID:0x3367 PID:0x1978). is the mouse plugged in?

I remember reading a news report 20-30 years ago about bus accidents. A surprising number of people who ran into buses just “didn’t see them”. Human minds are weird, confusing, and haven’t really evolved for modern society.

I watched a cormorant scare the crap out of about 20 ducks who were just hanging out. The cormorant popped up right in the middle of them, so the ducks panic flew off while the cormorant was just looking around like,“What?”

I remember also staring into the water from a little boat one time, watching a school of 5-6 inch fish and then they scattered and an air-silvered cormorant came swimming from the other side of the boat chasing them. Startled the hell out of me.
