Avatar is a lemming in bed because this account wasn’t intended to be used except for creating communities… and then my instance announced it was closing.

Chris@feddit.ukto Technology@lemmy.world•Stack Overflow seeks rebrand as traffic continues to plummet – which is bad news for developersEnglish24·1 day agoYep, I’ve never needed to ask a question on Stack Overflow as everything I’ve searched for has been answered already… or I’ve looked elsewhere for the answer as I’m not allowed to upvote, downvote or ask questions on it anyway due to lack of karma (or whatever they call it). No wonder it’s in decline if nobody new is allowed to contribute, and every new question is closed as a duplicate.
Yep, SANE is great.
As a non-free alternative, VueScan is pretty good too.
Chris@feddit.ukto Europe@feddit.org•Submit complains about Ryanair to European AuthorityEnglish9·9 days agoRyanair are awful. I’d rather pay a bit more and not have to put up with their nonsense. They are the lowest of the low.
Are we sharing pylons?
Muon.
Does SSH, SFTP and other stuff.

Chris@feddit.ukto Linux@lemmy.ml•I swapped the entire school computers to linux mintEnglish11·20 days agoThis is great! The science teacher who used to also look after all the computers at my school was a big fan of the Acorn Archimedes/RISC PC (quite standard school computers in my day due to the BBC computer literacy stuff, where Acorn won the contract for the BBC Micro). We had a couple of PCs (RM Nimbus) which didn’t get as much use. I believe the plan was to switch over to PCs running Windows (95 had been out a couple of years) and because of that he left. I wonder if there was a viable alternative at that point, such as Linux, that he would have stayed.
If you don’t believe, you don’t get the money.
The tooth fairy isn’t going to bother if you can’t be bothered to believe in her.
A Short Hike is ace!
Florence - it’s short and sweet.
There probably should be a rule that communities relate to the UK in some way. Either;
- UK specific
- UK including wider area (eg. European community)
- Generic global/non-regional
Creating a US community here is weird.
Chris@feddit.ukto Android@lemdro.id•Google is working on a big UI overhaul for Android: Here's an early lookEnglish4·21 days agoAha! I turned the notification volume off, not the ring volume. That works, thank you. Still shouldn’t be necessary but at least I can shut it up now!

My workaround is to ask Gemini to take a screenshot. It’s ridiculous but it works.
