Working at taking the ball on the half turn and driving/passing the ball forward would be great to see from Havertz

my take is that if you are making runs, then you won’t be carrying the ball. It doesn’t seem like Arteta wants an 8 who can carry the ball forward. He wants runners, he even had Xhaka making runs to the touchline last year. Even Vieira has made an effort to make runs (his penalty and his assist against fulham)

Just my observation but even when he has space to turn and run he sets the ball off to someone behind like a striker would. It slows down and even nullifies certain attacking situations.

We are so blessed to have both Rice and Partey.

We are living in a dream midfield scenario, I’m feeling so confident about getting our hands on some silverware this season.

Key pass is the last pass before a shot so according to this we have had at least 150 shots in 8 games…,

I’ll judge Havertz on his 2nd season like I did for Vieira but I really think we missed out on Szoboszlai

I think Havertz will likely come good but Szo is definitely a much better 8. Arteta loves versatile players though and likes having the direct option to Havertz at 9 which Szo obviously doesn’t offer

Can you add Partey into the mix? I’m intrigued to see how he compares against odegaard and rice.

That progressive passing stat is sad from Havertz. I’ve seen him improve a lot over the past few games, but that part of his game really needs to improve. He needs more dawg in him.

Yet another set of Havertz stats that are impossible to understand lol

How is he leading this trio in terms of key passes? With so few forward and progressive passes? I also thought he would be higher in terms Duel%, does this include aerial duels?

Clive (on Arseblog) made an interesting observation the other day, that Kai is used to passing back as a CF, which is a key pass, but not a progressive one.

(Incidentally, the same pass that he did for our winner v City)

Saying that from his years at Chelsea, he’s wired to do a different kind of pass, but hopefully he will push on from that, given time.

I think that’s how you say it in English. A backwards pass for someone to shoot.

His role is by design a low touch one so even if he was playing well in possession (which clearly hasn’t been the case) I would expect to see a similar profile.

I still find it difficult to comprehend how his key passes are so high when his forward and progressive passes are so low. Quite a few passes can be both progressive and key or forward and key right? Does it mean a lot of his key passes are cut-backs? It seems weird…

Honestly think he’s as good as Rodri. Never seen a player dominate games like he does after just joining the club. Even if you could give me prime Kante I am still taking Rice

Still think Partey is a bit better. Likely not for long if Rice keeps progressing tho
