for anyone who doesn’t know, tornado sirens always went off at noon every Wednesday just the test them, y’know, just in case. Very fun
Edit: This is in Iowa for me!
That’s interesting. It was always the first Tuesday of the month at 10am where I grew up. I wonder if different states have different test schedules?
Must depend on the county. I’m from a mid-sized Kentucky city and they test them on Fridays at noon.
Saturday at noon in Ohio.
Same in indiana
Monday at noon, also in Ohio
Same thing happens around here in Georgia, but it’s only the first Wednesday every month.
In France, Sirens are also tested the first Wednesday of the month at noon.
Saturdays at noon in OK (unless bad weather, of course)

That Midwest feel: When the tornado sirens go off and you panic for a second before remembering “Oh, it’s Wednesday”

It means it’s Wednesday, bro. If a tornado hits on a Wednesday it can’t hurt you. Those are the rules.

On Oklahoma I know it depends on where you are for when they test them. In Tulsa it’s Wednesday at noon. But in Norman it’s Friday at noon (which also marks when you can start setting up for tailgating during football season)
Storms and other forms of extreme weather typically wait until Thor’s day to get dangerous.
I’m going to take a moment here to link you to a video of the freaky-sounding tornado sirens in Chicago.
tornadoes hate Wednesdays
Ngl that’s kinda what I thought… but I went to the basement anyway
