yeah i know about crystal castles, my cousin used to listen to a lot of “witch music”, i don’t know what exactly that entails but i did incorporate like a third of her library into mine lol, so if that’s the genre then i do know a bunch of it

well i love many things of kap bambino, different things in different songs, i think they’re musically awesome

in this track, the music is just so playful yet aggressive, melodic yet noisy, reminds me of some old punk rock, but its electronic parts remind me of some of the songs for Dorohedoro (which were must tamer tbh; amazing anime btw with a cool aggressive/psychedelic/melodic, kinda similarish?). This other track I shared by Kap Bambino is way different, it’s basically like synthwave, which I used to listen to a lot and love, but more “witchy” with the female lead with some parts that seem meaningfully dramatic. A lot of noise and dissonance too. I guess the aggressive dissonance is a big part of what makes Kap Bambino special for me.

They also add some funny loud high pitched keyboard sounds that I have no idea what genre they are apart from “let’s make this pop!” lol.

oh and do you mean like witch house music?

Vaguely. That was indeed like the entry genre but I didn’t pick up much from there. Can’t remember why. I looked up a witch house music playlist and I don’t know anything except “the knife” and I somehow doubt that’s house. Although The Knife are one of my absolute favorites as well.

I found this thread on Google that contains a few things I like, like iamamiwhoami, the knife, warpaint, and some things my cousin liked, like grimes, chvrches, crystal castles… This is kinda where I entered this rabbit hole.

                  black dresses

Listening now. Sounds very cool. Very different from most things in my library but that’s kinda the point lol. I’ll continue exploring this rabbit hole of names and styles.

However, black dresses doesn’t seem to fit my ear. Makes me tense instead of happy like Kap bambino lol. Even though musically I do love it. So it’s either a matter of getting accustomed or traversing that path and seeing if I like a nearby spot.

Edit: listening to the witch house mix that Spotify made. Somehow I didn’t know this term but it encompasses a lot of cool shit and for some reason they added both the knife and kap bambino to it. Also Austra and Chairlift, both of which I like a lot. I recognize Bragolin from an old accounts liked songs. This first track Eviction by Linea Aspera is very cool. https://open.spotify.com/track/1KsDx0jzpXVr97vvSKzNfz. Actually many tracks here are cool. I love this playlist. Bragolin is cool. Happy mood. Doesn’t sound like House though. I think it’s just Spotify adding random shit I like that is kiiiinda related to things that fit the keyword.

Edit2: I just learned of this awesome tool:

                  • link: shoqify.com
                  • source code: https://github.com/jdemaeyer/spoqify
                  • description: it unpersonalizes mixes so you can see what a mix would look like without a listening history, basically untrashifying mixes.
                  • disadvantage: it says “anonymize” but it shares the original playlist’s link in the description 😅 and the original contains the name of the person for whom it was made in the desktop player (not in the app, and also not in the web app)
