How do you propose this could have been avoided?
By supplying adapters or working with other automakers to develop a standard.
NACS is already being standardized as SAE J3400, which will be adopted by most North American automakers. Do you mean a specific standard for breakaway adapters?
So much for Musk’s insistence on “open source”. But release a standard and designs so that others can build similar chargers if this is a safety concern and not a monopolistic protection racket
