Last week @tusker and myself have been busy setting up the infra on RetroShare.
You’ll have to invest time to learn how it works. It is NOT another web app. And it looks ugly. You’ll have no fun and your ego will not be boosted.
BUT IT CANNOT BE TAKEN DOWN…
I’ve tried to connect but there are so many options that I really don’t know what to do. The link has a series of node addresses. What do I do with them. There are networks, people, chats, files, channels, forums, boards. Where do I enter the node information? As far as I can get so far is that I have a New Channel listed in Activity for monerohub. I can’t subscribe to it or do anything except delete it. Can someone post a few screen shots from the beginning of how to get the boards for (I assume) monerohub . No explanation beyond the pictures is needed unless there’s a “gotcha” step that’s more complicated or behaves unintuitively.
What do I do with them
Use Home -> Add friend to add IDs. Seems you have done this already with the monerohub ID. You need more friends. Hang in while your node is syncing with the network in the background. Forum “Monero Town” is most active.
Retroshare is a free and open-source peer-to-peer communication and file sharing app
This seems completely unviable due to not having any kind of mobile apps from what I can tell.
Eep! 3 years since last commit
that is too bad.
Yes, no mobile device access is a big hurdle.
first you are wrong. and second, mobile users who dont read, dont research and post subito are of little help. Excluding smartphone slaves would be a big plus. Unfortunately there is an app for those.
first you are wrong.
wrong about what?
Excluding smartphone slaves would be a big plus.
Depending on your goal. If your goal is to have an exclusive club of monero users, yeah, be my guest. But if you want to reach some critical mass with your monero-related discussion community, some level of ease of access to the discussion medium helps.
I am not in the business of rescuing the world. I you wanna do that, fine.
I am not in the business of rescuing the world.
Aight. Good for you.
A platform that actively weeds out cell phone grugs in something I would love to see.
Try Bastyon in that case, it is normie friendly and has an app while still being decentralized, censorship resistant and not owned by a corporation.
Fdroid repo? because it’s not in the default repositories or on IzzyOnDroid
You can just DL the apk
Looks cool, I might drop by in the coming days.
Our progress so far in building out the anti-fragile Monero communications network. Near impossible to “take down” 😀
Really great to see, but I usually only have a mobile device in my pocket.
In that case try Bastyon, decentralized and censorship resistant twitter style platform with mobile app.
