This is the best summary I could come up with:
The CEO of Boeing has admitted the company retaliated against whistleblowers who have spoken out against alleged production malpractices, telling a special Senate hearing: “I know it happens.”
David Calhoun apologized to the families of Boeing crash victims, saying the manufacturer was “totally committed” to future saftey improvements, as he began testimony at the committee on Tuesday.
It comes as the embattled aircraft manufacturer faces a string of lawsuits relating to malpractice, after a door plug of a 737 Max 9 blew off during an Alaska Airlines flight in January.
Multiple whistleblowers have since come forward with concerns about violations of safety during production inspections, and many have claimed they were “retaliated” against by Boeing.
Asked about how many Boeing employees had been disciplined for retaliating against whistleblowers, Calhoun responded: “I don’t have that number on the tip of my tongue, but I know it.
Senator Richard Blumenthal, who chaired the hearing told him: “You have a duty to demand the highest safety standards… and [ensure] that ‘speak up’ in fact means speak up, not shut up, as it is meant all too often.”
The original article contains 188 words, the summary contains 184 words. Saved 2%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!
Wouldn’t you want to be a fly on the wall of that boardroom.
Dan: “For fucks sake, Kevin!”
Kevin: “Calm down!”
Dan: “Calm down?!??”
Kevin: “Nobody’s gonna notice…”
Dan: “NOBODY’S GONNA NOTICE THE MURDER OF A WHISTLEBLOWER!!!”
Kevin: “Well… it could be worse…”
Dan: “…”
Kevin: “…”
Dan: “What do you mean it could be worse, Kevin…?”
Kevin: “…”
Dan: “KEVIN!!”
Kevin: “Well, you know… you could pay an ex-marine suffering from PTSD to do a… you know…”
Dan: “…A WHAT, KEVIN?!?”
Kevin: “…a 3 for 1 special sale…”
Dan: “…a what?”
Kevin: “Well I’m saying, in all likelihood, it could get worse…”
Dan: “…”
Kevin: “…”
Dan: “…for fucks sake, Kevin.”
Look, we definitely had those whistleblowers killed. We did threaten to bury future whistleblowers in never ending litigation. Yes, I did sign off those airplanes with the massive defects. I needed to make more money. We at Boeing are extremely sorry that you all feel like we’re a terrible company.
Calhoun
He literally had them murdered.
Come on, it’s just a little bit of murdering. It wasnt…god, even just thinking about it make me completely sick… Someone smoking weed in his own house.
Can we please stop the conspiracy theory nonsense?
It was a funny, gallows humor Twitter post at best. Not something you should actually believe yet. I completely believe that they should be investigated as potential foul play incidents, but we have zero evidence that they were. Acting like it’s already been proven is irresponsible and spreading these conspiracies further and further for no reason is wrong.
My dude, are you serious?
I am open to it being true but acting as if it is at this stage is unwarranted.
People are entitled to express what they think happend.
It’s not like they made a website and are sharing links to supposed evidence of conspiracy.
I don’t disagree with what you say but you are very much overreacting.
In 10 years wel see a document art about the whole case and that will be how the majority of people will learn any conclusion.
This is a very, very optimistic take given the reactions in this thread and in other threads when this topic comes up.
This is how things like pizzagate happen.
Nice try, Boeing!
You can’t be serious…
There is a difference between a conspiracy theory and something that is hilariously obvious. Its not normal that people just die in mysterious circumstances right when they are about to have a court hearing… And Boing has more than enough money and connections to not just finance such things, but also to cover it.
If you see this as conspiracy theory you might be a little too far down the rectum of some company.
As I said in the other comment: I am open to it being true but acting as if it is at this stage is unwarranted.
And no, fuck Boeing. They punished whistleblowers and cut corners on airplanes. They are trash. The problem is y’all are too comfortable assuming they literally ordered hits on 2 people with no evidence. You’re saying “it could happen because they’re big and powerful.” How is that evidence of murder?
There will never be evidence for such things as Boing is a gigantic company with ties into the government. They also have moooore than enough money to silence investigations regarding this.
it can happen =/= it happened.
Saying “it can’t be proven and I have no direct or even indirect relationship to this alleged incident but I know it happened” is equally wrong. I don’t know what else to say man.
The probability of it it not having been like that is very slim.
You should have informed yourself before spreading nonsense.
What is informing this probability besides “they’re rich and can do it and have done bad things”?
You said there is no evidence. What is informing this belief?
