Also the date in 1977 when Elvis Costello & the Attractions appear on ‘Saturday Night =Live=’ in place of the Sex Pistols — who can’t get a visa to enter the US.
After a few seconds he quits playing ‘Less Than Zero’ and switches to ‘Radio Radio’ … and is banned from SNL for 12 years.
Lets not forget, D avid Bowie releases his fourth studio album, “Hunky Dory”, which would make it to #3 on the UK Official Album Chart, but miss the Billboard 200. The first single from the LP, “Changes”, would fail to chart in the UK and only reached #66 on the Hot 100
Amazing how many -big- songs fail to make the charts right away. (Noted for Aerosmith’s Dream On.) The UK has usually been -much- faster at ‘getting it’. (Including Bill Haley, where he had a -huuuge- fanbase.)
