Looking at this laptop at target for Black Friday. On sale for $330. Only problem is when I look up the model number I get different specs. On targets we site it has an i5 processor, 256g ssd, and 8gb memory. Is this laptop some weird one specifically for Black Friday or do you think it’s a good deal? Thanks In advance for any input
The display is as garbage as you can get for a modern FHD display.
The 8GB ram will be a performance blocker with multitasking, making it feel much slower than that CPU could otherwise do.
With an Alder Lake CPU, don’t expect to get good battery life.
But it’s not the absolute WORST laptop for the price I’ve ever seen.
Yeah I got it and just powered it up, the display looks pretty bad. I may return it. What do you think would be a better option in the same price range? (Under $400)
There’s the HP 15-FC0093DX for 370 on Best Buy, it has 16GB of RAM which should be great for multitasking. But the CPU is much weaker (still strong enough for normal use like browsing, streaming, and documents).
But I have no idea how good the display is. The display should still be better than what you got on the Lenovo (but I can’t make any guarantees).
With Lenovos it is the luck of the draw when it comes to display since they source from multiple manufacturers. I have an Ideapad 3 15ABA7 and the display is an atrocious 15.6" FHD TN panel, manufacturer unknown.
I recently bought a brand new clearance Lenovo V14 G2 ALC 82KCS02L00 and it came with a very nice 14" FHD TN panel made by BOE, Ryzen 3 5300u, 4GB RAM soldered (I chucked in another 16GB SODIMM), 128GB Samsung NAME SSD (replaced with 500GB Adata SX8200), a seriously good non-backlit keyboard, and a really crappy 0.3MP webcam :D
Base spec only cost me MYR900.
There is also space for a SATA SSD/HDD but i’ll have to buy the ribbon cable separately.
Buy a notebook depending on your needs/specs. If you want one with a nice screen, there are many options available for USD400. Just what kind of screen u want matters. IPS or VA, FHD or 2.5K or more, refresh rate?
Before buying any Ideapad range, it is good idea to go to the shop to look at the screen of the model you are interested in. Also, some of their worst IPS panels are beat by some of their best TN panels… yes it doesn’t make sense…
This is not so great, but the Acer Aspire 3 with i5 version 12 and 8gb ram looked good at Walmart. Keyboard and screen looked good to me last Saturday. Was $400 this week.
