I can’t press the button. I get a switching sound when using the thumb sticks or the crosspad but no button is able to toggle the switch. What now?

Strange how you didn’t think of touching it. Everything is a touch screen nowadays.

Not a lot of new deck owners know this, but until Steam OS fully loads, the capacitor isnt calibrated well enough for basic touch and needs the increased conductivity of a tongue.

It’s always a bit embarrassing to see users not smart enough to know they need to lick the screen.

This is amazing. I thought maybe OP didn’t want to get fingerprints on their shiny new screen but no.

That’s why an intelligent person would put on a tempered glass protector before booting up.

I hope it’s not a placebo effect, but it even just feels better to the touch for me. So responsive. It felt like touching an iPhone screen for the first time, instead of the god awful 2008 LG touchscreen phone I had beforehand.

I did this yesterday. Its the right trigger that worked for me, not the touch screen

I feel like I’m witnessing Steam Deck history with this post. I wonder how many new owners will have the same dilemma, not realising it’s a touchscreen.

Related: Every time I’ve factory reset my Steam Deck, the controller has stopped working and wouldn’t work again until I got through the initial setup and applied all the updates. Not a huge problem I guess, but that’s gonna be awkward to explain if I ever decide to sell the thing.
