Brand new Subaru BRZ, drove over metal while exiting the highway, unfortunately unavoidable and tried to get the center if the car to go over it clean through. Dragged the object fur several feet before having to pull over after the exit and slowly reverse to get it unstuck.
Went to a mechanic (national chain company) -> said nothing leaking, continue to drive, no functional problems. No cost even to look at the car
Called dealership and spoke to a mechanic, sending picture over the phone, and recommending me to come in for $100 just to look and whatever other damages to fix.
Driving is fine, It’s a new car (less than 2w old) so I’m not very familiar with it, but I think the road noise is a teeny bit louder after the incident today. Could the left side skid plate be pressing up against something important?
Better to bite the bullet now or continue driving as Mechanic A suggested?
I mean has anyone bothered to take down the skid plate and make sure nothing under it is damaged? Just because nothing is leaking doesn’t mean it wasn’t damaged…
