Long story short, a few months ago I did a shell swap and everything worked perfectly. Except for the right bumper… I wasn’t sure how to fix it so I’ve just been dealing with it and rebinding RB to one of the back buttons. My warranty ended months ago and I’d like to avoid sending it to valve if possible.
I’ve opened it up multiple times trying to fix it, however I can’t seem to find anything wrong with it. The button fully presses the activation switch just like LB, and the click feels normal.
I would greatly appreciate if anybody had suggestions on what to do or how to potentially solder on a new button.
I recently had to repair mine as I was in a very similar situation. Repair was fairly straightforward tbh as there’s only 3 main connections but I do a lot of soldering anyway so really depends on your personal soldering skills/confidence
Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but other than the soldering kit are any other tools necessary? Thanks!
I had a similar issue and tried fixing it with a small plastic part between button and bumper but this didn’t help. I found out that the button was bending back a bit because it wasn’t placed correctly. It was like 0.5mm above the pcb instead laying directly on the pcb. So I sent the deck in for RMA and they fixed it for me. They also were very thankful for my photos and research I did.
If you’re out of RMA you could take a look if there’s a gap between pcb and button. If so, you need to desolder the button completely, clean the pcb from any excessive solder and resolder the button while pushing it down to the pcb.
