How’s traction with the big booty? I had a manual 325i in MN, wasn’t bad once I gained momentum but had trouble getting out of an icy parking spot

:( It’s unfortunate that we don’t really have snow anymore in the Netherlands, i’m dying to take my rwd 3 series for a spin through it

Thats really unfortunate. We tend to have a bit too much snow here. This is just the beginning of several months with it😅

I daily an M4 with winter tires in Illinois. Its great. I would not be afraid turning off traction control, and hills need speed.

A m4 in the winter. Thats brave and also do you guys have a lot of salt on your roads. We have so much salt on our roads when its winter that basically all cars rust.

Also I think I am keeping traction control on, for now😅

Just get some good winter tires and you’ll be set. The slow speed sideways action during winters are so much fun.

Yeah. I have some decent winter tires. Just wish they were studded. Going sideways on snow is really fun, always had fwd cars so its a bit different now. Have to learn on some parking lots how a rwd car behaves.

When I used to live up north every year at the first snow I’d go to this one parking lot that I knew had nothing but the huge light poles to hit. And just go ham at like 2am to remind myself how the car handles and have a little fun to boot. I always half expected to see flashing lights at some point but never did thankfully.

Rear drive and snow has been a thing for over 100 years.

And they didn’t have traction control.

The thing to do is, with several inches of accumalation, find a snowed in parking lot, disable traction control then, induce and learn to control a slide.

Otherwise, normal being aware of your surroundings driving is all you’re needing to do here.

Went to a empty lot today. Was loads of fun. Still a good amount of learning before sliding on roads.

Always look in the direction you want the car to go. You’ll steer correctly. ABS doesn’t mean anti-slide so increase your stopping distance.

I used to carry a bag of sand in the trunk of my BMWs when conditions were rough. It really did help a lot!

Like others have said, it’s all about the tires. My first BMW was a RWD manual transmission E46 wagon. With a set of Blizzaks it was a tank/hoon mobile in the snow. Total blast.
