Doesn’t look like there are obvious signs of physical damage.

I’d take it to Apple, play dumb, don’t mention the dice and see if they’ll warranty repair it.

It doesn’t look damaged to me, see if Apple will fix it under warranty and keep the hookers and blackjack to yourself.

Clarification: this is a great idea. Don’t tell them it got hit by dice… say it just happened and it may fall under warranty. In all honesty, dice shouldn’t cause this to happen anyways.

If you don’t have apple care, be prepared to roll more dice so you can make more money to afford the repair.

Last I checked Apple does $700 for a screen repair, if you’re not under Apple Care and can’t join in the first 30 days/90 days?, then it’s nearly half the price of the laptop to repair.

A bit off topic here, but if OP doesn’t have Apple Care, is it better to get it fixed at a reputable third party repair store? I assume it’d be cheaper than Apple.

I just had this same issue on my MacBook m2 (dog bit the edge of the screen) $550 after everything. Make sure to backup your data because Apple will wipe it on a screen replacement.

why do Mac screens break this way constantly, like it’s not even cracked just lines and bars?

OLED screens are not as strong as old LCD screens. I had a crappy Dell PC a while ago and all the bezel broke and cracked around screen because it was made of the cheapest quality plastic, but the screen still worked.

You said this is less than 30 days old? Go to the Apple Store and tell them it appeared after a bit of use. No damage. Try to get the warranty to apply.

Hard to see but I don’t see a point of impact.

As a former genius, I would cover that. That line doesn’t travel to a point of impact. Just don’t mention anything about the dice lol. Just say you opened your laptop and saw the line on the screen.

Source: previous Mac genius and sent computers to depot where these type of screens would get covered.

they’ll charge the half price of a laptop so give it to a poor (like me) and buy another one instead of repair
