Full time skateboarder/skate coach just here from “news”.
I like gadgets too, but this is r/diWhy vibes
It folds in half so it’s easier to bring to class or work. I’ll be your reading comprehension coach.
Why would I need a folding skateboard that takes up the same mass but now doubles width at the trucks/wheels?
I’ll be your “travels with skateboards as a living” advisor to the “don’t be an asshole” coach you should employ.
Great fucking sub, nevermind lol
It’s up there with folding bikes. Stupid and just introduces another failure point.
It also comes with kevlar and tier 3 armor plating for the US market.
This is not what we need. What we need are removable batteries that separate into TSA friendly amp hour blocks that can be divided between carry on bags and coat pockets, then reassembled upon arrival.
I had a boosted board. They are not very safe. It’s better to just bike.
Does anyone else hate/question the functionality of the grip tape layout?
That sucks it’s only for students :(
Gonna need more like a rucksack than a backpack tbh
I like the idea but that griptape is brutal.
I work in a university and we don’t allow any electric scooters, skateboards or one wheels into the building, you can lock it up outside with the bikes.
Students bringing it in their backpacks doesn’t solve anything, they’ll still have to leave it outside.
Too heavy to just strap to the back back? Takes a bit of time being 4 feet wide but inside or outside the pack. This is cool.
That looks very cool, my boosted board is a pain to bring around when I need to tuck it somewhere like a restaurant or when I’m getting in a car/subway.
Is it bulletproof?
Probably the most important consideration for students now
Is the point of a longboard so that you can walk around with it in your hands and bring it to class?
I mean I had a normal longboard I took on the bus and to every class I went to. Never had an issue setting it somewhere. Could be because I went to Iowa State and the class size vs the rooms. Worse case I sat on it in the hallway when there wasn’t a bench or put it under my chair.
I agree with the other comments of putting a dirty wheel and dirty decked longboard in a backpack. I can see the advantage if there’s a rule you can’t have it in a building to put it away but not much else past that.
Why would anyone want to put a dirty board in their backpack? I had a $400 meepo mini v2 for a year in college that I used to get to and from class every day. I don’t think I would ever put that board in my backpack even if it folded, especially when during entire weeks or months when it was wet or snowy.
